About

Hello!

My name is Samantha Gray and I am a 20 year old Media and Communications student from Melbourne, Victoria.

Thank you for visiting my brand new blog. I'm guessing either you felt obliged to give it a look because I guilted you into it by posting a bajillion times on my Facebook page, or you're my assessor (hi I love u give me hd's), or you're my mum (Hi mum!)

This blog is part of a project I am doing as part of a capstone unit for the final year of my degree (yippee!). I have been thinking about starting a blog for quite a while, and this was the perfect excuse.

If you check back every now and then, you'll probably see The Spokes go through quite a lot of digital transformation. As I am learning some web-design as I go, and saving my pennies to ask people who actually know what they're doing to help me.

For as long as I can remember I have had an interest in the fashion and beauty world. As an 11 year old, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were my ultimate fashion heroes and I think I forced my mum to buy every single item from their range at Targèt (a handbag that was made entirely out of suede fringing has got to be the most horrific, and best).

I've only really discovered the make-up world within the past two or three years. Discovering Lauren Curtis and Zoella on YouTube lead to me watching hours and hours of videos about how to perfectly blend eye shadow and create the perfect winged-liner. And now, much to my bank accounts dismay, I'm hooked.

The success of these online brands has been quite amazing to me, and certain aspects of my degree have let me explore this. This has made my degree incredibly interesting and satisfying.

Outside of uni in my spare time, I really enjoy watching reality TV (do yourself a favour and watch Gogglebox, trust me), and scouring through the Melbourne coffee scene. I supplement my beauty and coffee addictions by working two retail jobs (hello to my Topshop friends!), which I also thoroughly enjoy.

I'm still unsure as to what I want to do after I finish uni later this year, but I think that establishing a blog will be a great starting point for what ever career path I decide to pursue.

Thank you, again, for visiting. I really do appreciate it.

Sam x
